Ingredients:
    • 1/4 cup basmati rice
    • 1/4 cup moong dal (washed and rinsed)
    • 1 cup water or vegetable broth
    • 1 teaspoon ghee (clarified butter)
    • Pinch of turmeric powder
Instructions:
  1. Rinse the rice and moong dal together.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the rice, dal, water or broth, ghee, and turmeric powder.
  3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the rice and dal are cooked through and the mixture has a porridge-like consistency.
  4. Mash the cooked khichdi to a smooth consistency for newborns. For older babies, you can leave it slightly chunky.
